Social Media Support

Our social media profiles are in sync with our strategic brand pillars and marketing initiatives.

Our social media channels are the place to discover, share and celebrate everything that makes this region extraordinary.

Find us on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok under a single handle – @victorias.heartland making it easy for partners, operators and visitors to connect, tag and engage with us.

We encourage all partners and tourism operators across the region to actively engage with our channels to amplify your presence and reach new audiences.

What we do on our channels

  • Inspire visits to the region through beautiful, story-driven content
  • Craft organic and promoted posts tailored to each platform and audience
  • Promote local events to boost regional visitation
  • Expand reach by sharing and resharing operator content via stories and posts

We don’t post direct sales or business promotions in our feed, but we do share your promotions through our story feeds. Tag @victorias.heartland in your images and videos so we can easily find and reshare your content.

How to tag us

Include @victorias.heartland when captioning posts on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, or tag us directly in your feed images and story posts.

Tagging us in your stories is the most efficient way for us to reshare your content quickly. Our accounts are managed part-time (Tuesday to Thursday), so we’re unable to reshare everything. If something is time-sensitive, send us a DM during those days.

Hashtags

Using the right hashtags helps new audiences discover your content. Here are our recommendations:

Our brand hashtag — always use this so your content can be found and reshared:
#victoriasheartland

Regional and platform hashtags to extend your reach: #visitvictoria #visitmelbourne #explorevictoria #seevictoria #thisisvictoria #holidayherethisyear #clickforvic

Tips for great content

Why social media works

It lets you show your personality, tell your story, and reach potential visitors before they’ve even started planning their trip. Strong imagery and authentic storytelling consistently outperform promotional content.

Content ideas
  • Share what’s happening day-to-day in your business
  • Find the moment worth capturing and shoot it: landscapes, behind the scenes, seasonal highlights
  • Reels and short-form video are performing strongly across all three platforms. Even simple, authentic clips work well
  • Quality over quantity: three posts per week is a solid target
Your unique selling point (USP)

What makes your business different is you: your people, your story, your place. Lead with that. If managing social media feels overwhelming, consider engaging a local social media professional to help develop and kickstart your strategy.

If you have an event, workshop, class, special dining experience, yoga ect. as a Facebook event, add our Victoria’s Heartland Facebook page as a co-host to gain exposure to our audience. Once approved, your event will appear on both your page and ours.

Please DO NOT co-host with the closed Facebook group page ‘Daylesford Macedon Ranges Tourism’. This is a closed/private industry page and not a consumer platform.

Unfortunately the success of our seasonal competitions/giveaways promoted via social media have attracted scammers to create fake look-a-like accounts to mimic our own. We politely ask that you report any fake accounts and don’t click any links or provide any personal information including credit card details. Our competition terms and conditions are published on our website with entrant requirements and information on winner announcement/contact.
