Product Development

One of our key objectives is to sustainably increase year-round visitation and spend in and around the region. We do this by helping to develop new experiences for visitors through the development of new products and services that make the most of our key regional strengths. We will develop the region as a best practice standard for the tourism industry to shine while enhancing the visitor experience.  We support the creation of a sustainable and engaged regional tourism industry that is enabled for growth.

One of our key roles is to work with State Government, industry and the community to develop the right products for the region.  This includes the implementation and management of the 2023-2027 Daylesford Macedon Ranges Destination Management Plan merging with the Destination Management Plans of Mt Alexander and Central Goldfields Shires. These plans set a multi-year vision for product development in the region, ensuring that it supports the regional brand, fills product ‘gaps’ and ensures sustainable tourism growth.

You can view the current Daylesford Macedon Tourism Destination Management Plan here. Early in 2026, an updated Destination Management Plan will be created encompassing all four regions of Hepburn, Macedon Ranges, Mt Alexander and Central Goldfields.

Top Tourism Town Awards

In July 2025, Trentham won the TAC Top Tiny Town in Victoria. Our team worked in partnership with Hepburn Shire to support the submission. This video below Trentham’s draw as a wonder tiny town filled with charm and amazing businesses, people and experiences.

The Tiny Tourism Town awards recognise Australian towns with a population under 1,500 that offer amazing visitor experiences and are committed to working collectively to increase visitation to its region. It doesn’t stop there. In July 2024, Daylesford won gold in the TAC Top Tourism Town Awards, recognised as Victoria’s ‘Top Small Tourism Town’. The video below showcases the town’s wonderful offering and what we think is an ideal itinerary for an indulgent weekend in our beautiful town.

Following on from that win, in September 2024 Daylesford won silver in the category of ‘Small Tourism Town’ in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards. The Small Tourism Town awards recognise Australian towns with a population under 5,000 but more than 1,500 people that offer amazing visitor experiences and are committed to working collectively to increase visitation to its region.
